People

We are focused on people at all steps of the Whirlpool journey, from those who keep us running as a business and those in the communities we serve.

We strive to be a great place to work for our 2,500 colleagues, nurturing all our talent to bring out the best ideas. This is just one reason why we have been named a Top Employer for six years running.

We are committed to help the communities where we operate and we’re invested in building strong foundations to help them thrive. As the UK’s largest appliance manufacturer we do this both in our home in Peterborough as well as 13 sites across the UK.

Find out how we support our colleagues as well as the communities in which we operate below.

Communities

We are committed to help the communities where we operate and we’re invested in building strong foundations to help them thrive. As the UK’s largest appliance manufacturer we do this both in our home in Peterborough as well as 13 sites across the UK. We focus on three areas that really matter to us which are education, affordable housing and reducing food waste.

Education

First Lego League

Whirlpool have supported the FIRST® LEGO® League since 2019, funding more than 50 local primary schools across Peterborough, Manchester and Bristol to participate.

National Literacy Trust

Having been based in Peterborough for over 70 years, Whirlpool UK is always keen to support community projects that benefit local families, many of whom we have worked with for generations.

Affordable housing

Habitat for Humanity partnership

For over 22 years, Whirlpool has partnered with NGO Habitat for Humanity International, leveraging our innovative appliances, unrivalled workforce and philanthropic support to improve life at home for people around the world.

Changemaker 3D printed homes partnership

Around the world today, 1.6 billion people live in substandard housing. Helping find solutions to these problems guides our approach to corporate social responsibility across the globe at Whirlpool Corporation.

Food Waste

FoodCycle

We’ve supported FoodCycle for a number of years by providing refrigeration products to store food, and many of our colleagues volunteer every week.

Moments Not to Be Wasted

Our global and local community initiatives include Moments Not To Be Wasted, and in the UK we’ve reached over 600 primary schools to educate children and families on food waste.

Colleagues

We strive to be a great place to work for our 2,500 colleagues, nurturing all our talent to bring out the best ideas. This is just one reason why we have been named a Top Employer for six years running.

Top Employer

Whirlpool EMEA was named a Top Employer Europe, for the sixth year in a row by the Top Employer Institute, in six countries including the UK.

Wellbeing

The heart of our culture at Whirlpool has always been our people, which has guided us for 112 years and will continue to do so even in the changes in which we all live and work today.  When all aspects of our wellbeing are in balance we are able to thrive both at work and in our personal lives.

Learning & Development

Providing opportunities for our colleagues to continuously learn and develop their skills is a top priority as more engaged people deliver better results which in turn improves the business for our customers.

Gender equality

Inclusion & Diversity is a core value at Whirlpool because we know that drawing from diverse points of view improves our products, services, our teams, and each other. Yet we recognise we are on an ongoing journey and are committed to new, bold goals and meaningful action to cultivate an even stronger, inclusive and diverse workplace, as well as in the communities where we work and live. Inclusion creates a culture of belonging, diversity makes us better.
