Habitat for Humanity partnership
For over 22 years, Whirlpool has partnered with NGO Habitat for Humanity International, leveraging our innovative appliances, unrivalled workforce and philanthropic support to improve life at home for people around the world.
As of 2021, we have donated nearly $130 million to Habitat for Humanity International globally and supported Habitat programs in 45 countries.
Here in the UK, this partnership forms part of Whirlpool UK’s social responsibility strategy, House+Home.
House+Home is underpinned by our company’s commitment to improving life at home. The new strategy seeks to contribute towards safe, affordable and nurturing places to live, where families can make healthy choices and build a better future, while supporting thriving and sustainable communities through a number of educational and community development programmes.
The initiative was launched in November 2021, with colleagues from Whirlpool UK volunteering at the charity’s Empty Spaces project in East London.
The programme sees disused commercial premises repurposed into social housing. The volunteers supported the charity in renovating and decorating the premises, transforming it into a home for vulnerable people.
Whirlpool UK’s support for the Empty Spaces project coincided with Habitat for Humanity’s Europe Housing Forum.
